ICC reveals why PCB chief missed Champions Trophy final ceremony: The final match of the Champions Trophy 2025 was played in Dubai on Sunday, March 9, where Team India defeated New Zealand. After the match was over, a presentation ceremony was held. No official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was present in this ceremony, which in itself was surprising because Pakistan was the official host of this tournament.
In such a situation, the question arose that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has done this deliberately. However, the ICC, headed by Jay Shah, has now explained why no PCB official was present in the closing ceremony of the tournament. The ICC has responded to Geo News. The channel had sought a comment from the ICC on this matter.

Now an ICC spokesperson has revealed that Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the PCB Management Committee and the host board's designated representative, was invited to the ceremony but did not attend. "Mohsin Naqvi was not available and did not travel to Dubai for the final," the spokesperson confirmed. Responding to criticism over the lack of Pakistani representation on the dais, the ICC emphasised its established protocol for award ceremonies.
"The ICC only invites the head of the host board to attend the award ceremony - such as the president, vice-president, chairman or CEO. Other board officials, whether present at the venue or not, are not part of the dais proceedings," the spokesperson informed.
The ICC also emphasised that this protocol has been followed consistently across all tournaments and is not limited to the Champions Trophy alone. The absence of the PCB official on the dais was only due to the absence of the board's designated representative.
