
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced the schedule for the eighth edition of the men's T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka and begin on February 7, 2026. It will be the largest T20 World Cup ever, featuring 20 teams. The tournament will conclude on March 8, and if Pakistan fails to qualify for the final, the final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. If Pakistan reaches the final, the title match will be held in Colombo.
In the first round, all five teams from each group will play each other. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 8 round. In the Super 8 round, all teams will play the remaining seven teams. The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals. The final will be played between the winners of the two semi-finals.

The last ICC tournament in India was in 2023. It was the ODI World Cup, in which Australia defeated India in the final. The Pakistan team traveled to India for this tournament. The India vs. Pakistan match was played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, this year, Team India did not travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy; India played all its matches in Dubai. It was then decided that Pakistan would also not travel to India.
