MS Dhoni inducted into ICC Hall of Fame: Former Indian captain and legendary player MS Dhoni has been inducted into the Hall of Fame by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Let us tell you that the ICC has given this information through a post from its official X account on Monday, June 9.
It is worth noting that under his captaincy, Dhoni won the ICC T20 World Cup, ICC World Cup 2011 and Champions Trophy 2013 for India. At the same time, Dhoni is counted among some of the best captains in the world along with India. Also, in the year 2009, for the first time, India emerged as the number one team in Test cricket under the captaincy of Dhoni.
Let us tell you that Dhoni started his international cricket career in the year 2004 with the ODI match played against Bangladesh in Chittagong. At the same time, he was last seen playing for India against New Zealand in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2019.
The ICC Hall of Fame was established in 2009 by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in association with the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA). Its main objective is to recognise and honour the achievements of the greatest players in cricket history.
Initially, 55 players were inducted into it, who were part of the FICA Hall of Fame from 1999 to 2003. After this, new players are inducted every year during the ICC Awards ceremony.
The main objective of the ICC Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor the achievements of great players who have taken the game of cricket to new heights with their talent, dedication and sportsmanship. These are the players who not only performed brilliantly for their country but also made a profound impact on international cricket.
Players have to fulfill certain specific criteria to be included in the Hall of Fame. One of the important criteria is that the player must have retired from international cricket at least 5 years ago. The selection process consists of a special panel, which includes current ICC Hall of Fame members, senior ICC officials, media representatives and members of FICA. This panel evaluates players who have performed very well in their careers.
