ICC Announces Men's Test Team of the Year 2024: Team India's young opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has been rewarded for his brilliant performance in the 2024 Test. This young left-handed batsman has been included in the Men's Test Team of the Year 2024 by the ICC, the apex body of cricket. This 22-year-old batsman is only the second player from India to get a place in this team. Yashasvi has been given preference by ignoring Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Yashasvi Jaiswal made his Test debut for India in the year 2023 and made his mark on the West Indies tour. From there he continued to excel. In the year 2024, he made his bat famous and scored a lot of runs. This year Jaiswal has scored 1478 runs in 15 Test matches and during this his average has been 54.74. This year three centuries and nine half-centuries have come from his bat.
Only two of the four best batsmen of the current era have got a place in the team. These include New Zealand's Kane Williamson and Joe Root. Steve Smith and Virat Kohli could not make it. The three players from India who have been given a place in it include opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah is currently the top bowler in the ICC Test rankings, while Jadeja is the top-ranked all-rounder in Tests.

Root was the highest run-scorer in Tests last year. Yashasvi was second on this list. Williamson also showed great form after returning from injury. However, all three teams have been eliminated from the race for the final of the ICC World Test Championship. In the final, Australia will face South Africa at the historic Lord's ground in June.
