How many teams will qualify for ICC T20 World Cup 2026?

A total of 17 teams have qualified for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka. These include Zimbabwe and Namibia. A total of 20 teams will participate in the 2026 T20 World Cup.

The teams that made it to the Super 8s of the 2024 T20 World Cup have already qualified for the event. Some teams qualified based on rankings. The remaining teams will be determined through regional qualifying rounds.

Zimbabwe and Namibia qualify for T20 World 2026

The top two teams from the Africa regional qualifiers have qualified for next year's T20 World Cup. Namibia defeated Tanzania by 63 runs in the tournament's first semi-final to not only secure a place in the final but also secure a place in the major tournament.

Zimbabwe made no mistake in the qualification round, defeating Kenya by seven wickets in the second semi-final to secure a place in the final and qualify for the T20 World Cup. Zimbabwe had missed out on a place in the previous T20 World Cup.

A total of 17 teams have been finalised so far for the T20 World Cup 2026.

The remaining three teams will be decided from the East Asia Pacific qualifying round, which includes Oman, UAE, Qatar, Nepal, Samoa, Kuwait, Malaysia, Japan, and Papua New Guinea. These teams have been divided into three groups, with matches starting October 8 at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman.
