Team India’s campaign in the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 came to an end after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat. On Sunday, November 9, India lost their final match against Sri Lanka by 48 runs, marking a disappointing finish to their tournament.
India started the tournament on a high note with a victory over arch-rivals Pakistan, but the joy was short-lived. The team went on to lose three matches in a row on November 8.
These losses ended India’s hopes of reaching the quarterfinals.
With regular skipper Dinesh Karthik resting, Stuart Binny led the side against Sri Lanka. Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 138 runs without losing a wicket. In reply, India managed only 90/3. Bharat Chipli (41) and Binny (25*) fought hard, but the target was too steep. None of the Indian bowlers could take a wicket.
With this loss, India bowed out of the tournament, while Pakistan advanced to the final race. The Hong Kong Sixes 2025 served as a lesson for India — in this fast-paced six-a-side format, even one mistake can change the game.
