Old Trafford is a popular cricket stadium located in Manchester, England, where several international matches are held every year. Hosts England have a great record at this stadium, especially in Test cricket. Only four times a target of 200+ has been successfully chased in Test cricket at this ground and all these times have been achieved by the hosts in the last few years. 1. England vs New Zealand (294 Runs) - 2008

England has successfully chased a target of 294 runs against New Zealand. In a match played in 2008, New Zealand scored 381/10 in the first innings with Ross Taylor scoring an unbeaten century. Later, visiting team's spinner Daniel Vettori bowled out the hosts for 202. In the second innings, New Zealand failed to score big and could only manage 114 runs, setting the hosts a target of 294 runs. Opener Andrew Strauss laid the foundation for England's victory with his century. The hosts achieved the target by six wickets.

England vs Pakistan (277 Runs) - 2020

England and Pakistan clashed in the first match of the three-match Test series in Manchester in 2020. Pakistan were bowled out for 326 in the first innings. The visitors were then able to score only 219 runs thanks to four wickets from leg-spinner Yasir Shah. In the second innings, England bowled out Pakistan for just 169 and set a target of 277 runs. Later, the hosts achieved the target by three wickets thanks to half-centuries from Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes.

3. England vs West Indies (231 Runs) - 2004

In 2004, the third Test match of the four-match series between West Indies and England was played in Manchester. In the first innings, the visitors scored 395/10 thanks to half-centuries from three batsmen. England were then bowled out for 330 thanks to a century by Graham Thorpe. West Indies could not do much in the second innings and were bowled out for just 165, setting the hosts a target of 231 runs, which they achieved with seven wickets to spare.

4. England vs Sri Lanka (205 Runs) - 2024

In the first Test of the series against Sri Lanka in 2024, England chased a target of 205 runs at Old Trafford in Manchester. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 236 in the first innings, where England scored 358/10 thanks to a century from Jamie Smith. In the second innings, Sri Lanka batted better and scored 326 runs thanks to a century from Kamindu Mendis. England were then set a target of 205 runs, which the hosts won by five wickets thanks to an unbeaten half-century from Joe Root.

5. South Africa vs England (145 Runs) - 1955

In the third Test of the five-match series against England in 1955, the Proteas chased a target of 145 runs. In the first innings, England scored 284 with a hundred from Denis Compton. South Africa then scored a mammoth 521/8 with centuries from captain Jackie McGlew, John Waite and Paul Winslow. In the second innings, England scored 381 with a hundred from captain Peter May and set South Africa a target of 145 runs, which they achieved with three wickets to spare.
