Heinrich Klaasen announces retirement from international cricket

South African veteran player Heinrich Klaasen has announced his retirement from international cricket. He said that representing the country has been the biggest honor for him and the decision to retire was very difficult for him. Klaasen played his first international match for South Africa in a ODI match. He scored 3,245 runs in his entire international career.

Heinrich Klaasen has shared a picture with his family on Instagram, through which he announced that he is leaving cricket. He said, "It has been a matter of pride for me to represent the country, I used to dream of this since childhood." Klaasen also said that in this brilliant cricket career, he also met such people, with whom his life changed.

Heinrich Klaasen, while giving the reason for retirement, said, "I am now hoping that I will be able to spend more time with the family because I will be able to do so after retirement." Klaasen thanked all those people who have helped him reach this point in cricket.

Heinrich Klaasen Cricket Career

Heinrich Klaasen retired from Test cricket in January last year. He played only 4 matches in his red-ball career in which he could score only 104 runs. Now he has also said goodbye to ODI and T20 formats. In his 60 ODI career, he scored 2,141 runs including 4 centuries and 11 half-centuries.

He got recognition for his explosive batting in T20, where he scored 1,000 runs in 58 matches for South Africa. Heinrich Klaasen has played his last match so far for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025. In his last match, he scored an unbeaten 105-run century against KKR. At the same time, the last match for South Africa was played against New Zealand in March 2025.
