The ICC Men's T20 World Cup is one of the most exciting tournaments in international cricket. The 2026 edition, hosted by India and Sri Lanka, featured 20 teams competing for the prestigious trophy.
However, despite many teams participating over the years, only six teams have managed to win the tournament so far.
These champion teams are:

Across the 10 editions of the tournament, 25 teams have participated, but 19 teams are still waiting for their first T20 World Cup title.

Despite strong performances from some of these teams, they are still chasing their first T20 World Cup title.
Teams That Have Reached the T20 World Cup Final but Never Won
Two teams have come very close to winning the tournament but fell short in the final:
- South Africa national cricket team - Runners-up in 2024, losing the final to India national cricket team.
- New Zealand national cricket team - Runners-up in 2021 and 2026, losing to Australia national cricket team and India national cricket team respectively.
Teams That Have Played Every T20 World Cup but Never Won
Interestingly, two teams have played in all 10 editions of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup but are still waiting for their first title:
- South Africa national cricket team
- New Zealand national cricket team
Both teams have been consistent performers but have not yet managed to win the tournament.
