The ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will begin on February 7, 2026. Several teams, including India, South Africa, Australia, and England, have already announced their squads for the tournament. However, five big names are missing from the teams that have announced their squads for the World Cup. They have been dropped from their respective teams. Here, we will tell you about the five prominent players who have been left out by their teams and will not be seen playing in the T20 World Cup 2026.
1. Shubman Gill (India)
Team India's Test and ODI captain, Shubman Gill, has been dropped from India's T20 World Cup squad. Although Gill was not only a part of India's T20 International team but also the vice-captain before the World Cup, he was dropped from the team due to his consistently poor performance in T20 Internationals.
2. Mitchell Owen (Australia)
Australian star all-rounder Mitchell Owen has also not been included in the Australian squad for the T20 World Cup. Owen has played 13 T20 Internationals for Australia so far. Owen is a formidable player in this format, known for his aggressive batting and medium-fast bowling.
3. Ryan Rickelton (South Africa)
South African wicketkeeper-batsman Ryan Rickelton has also failed to secure a place in the South African squad for the T20 World Cup. He was part of the team in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He also performed well on Indian pitches while playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025. This season, Rickelton scored a total of 388 runs in 14 matches.
4. Tristan Stubbs (South Africa)
South African star middle-order batsman Tristan Stubbs has also failed to secure a place in the South African squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Stubbs performed well playing for Delhi Capitals in the last two seasons of the IPL. He was also part of the South African team in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
5. Liam Livingstone (England)
England's experienced all-rounder Liam Livingstone has also been left out of England's squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Livingstone is known for his explosive batting and ability to hit long sixes, and he also bowls. His experience playing in the IPL has given him valuable knowledge of Indian pitches, which could have been beneficial for England in the World Cup.
