Fast bowlers who took hat-tricks in WTC history: Australia took a big step for the third Test against West Indies and dropped their key spinner Nathan Lyon and included fast bowler Scott Boland. India's Jasprit Bumrah was the first fast bowler to take a hat-trick in the World Test Championship. Bumrah did this in the match played in Kingston during the tour of West Indies in 2019. He dismissed Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks and Roston Chase on three consecutive balls in his same over during the first innings of West Indies.

Pakistani fast bowler Naseem Shah has also achieved the feat of taking a hat-trick in WTC. Naseem achieved this feat in the first Test played during Bangladesh's tour of Pakistan in 2020. In the Test match held in Rawalpindi, Naseem took the wickets of Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Taijul Islam and Mahmudullah.

Atkinson dismissed Nathan Smith, Matt Henry and Tim Southee during this period. Boland dismissed Justin Greaves, Shamar Joseph and Jomel Warrican during West Indies' second innings.
