The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday announced its 15-man provisional squad for the ICC ODI World Cup in India. England have made several big announcements in their starting squad for this year's World Cup with all-rounder Ben Stokes being included in the 15-man squad. At the same time, young batsmen Harry Brook and Jofra Archer are not included in the team.
The England team has gained strength ahead of the upcoming ODI World Cup. Star all-rounder and England Test captain Ben Stokes has withdrawn his retirement from the ODI format. Stokes announced his retirement from ODIs on July 18, 2022. He has returned to ODI cricket once again after about 13 months. Stokes has been selected in the team for the series against New Zealand. This will help them prepare for the World Cup.
New Zealand is to tour England later this month. During this, both the teams will play a four-match T20 series and then a four-match ODI series. The T20 series will start from 30 August and the ODI series from 8 September. Stokes played the last ODI on 19 July 2022 against South Africa.
Ben Stokes comes out of retirement, England has announced its core team (provisional) for the ODI World Cup 2023 to be hosted by India this year. Star all-rounder Ben Stokes has also returned in this 15-member team. Stokes had retired from ODI cricket. But now he has broken his retirement. The England team is currently the ODI and T20 champions. In the last ODI World Cup final in 2019, England won the title by defeating New Zealand in the final. Stokes then played an important role in winning the title to the English team. He was unbeaten in the final against New Zealand. He was the player of the match in the final match. After this, when the English team became the team T20 champion in 2022, even then Stokes was the hero of that match. In such a situation, the England team has become very strong after his return to the ODI setup.
