On September 17, Sunday, after India won the Asia Cup 2023, the team was preparing to go from the hotel in Colombo to the adjacent airport, but as they boarded the bus, skipper Rohit Sharma neglected to bring his passport.
Former India captain Virat Kohli was asked about the most 'forgetful' players in Team India on a talk show a few years ago. Kohli had no difficulty in naming current captain and Team India opener Rohit Sharma.
On Sunday, after India's record-breaking eighth Asia Cup championship, Rohit Sharma once again shown his 'forgetful' state of mind.

As Team India prepared to depart for the hotel and airport late at night, Rohit Sharma held the team van waiting for an amusing reason. The Indian captain had forgotten his passport, probably in his hotel room, so a hotel administrator had to come over and present it to him.
In an interview from 2017 on Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli had stated, "I haven't seen anyone forget stuff like Rohit Sharma does. Even his iPad and passport are lost.

Rohit Sharma, who led his side to a stunning 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 championship match on Sunday, didn't forget to give credit to his teammates. With bowler Mohammed Siraj taking 6/21, Team India dismissed Sri Lanka for only 50 runs before chasing the goal in just over six overs.
