Asia Cup 2025 Indian Team Analysis: The Indian team for Asia Cup T20 2025 has been announced. This 15-member team will be captained by Suryakumar Yadav, while Shubman Gill has been made the vice-captain. Team India will start its campaign with a match against UAE on 10 September, after which the team has to play a big match against Pakistan on 14 September.
However, some questions are also being raised on the selection process of the selectors. New faces for India in Asia Cup 2025: This time there are seven players who will be part of the Indian team for the first time in the Asia Cup. These include Abhishek Sharma, Shivam Dubey, Jitesh Sharma, Varun Chakraborty, Sanju Samson, Harshit Rana and Rinku Singh.
On the other hand, there are eight players who already have experience of the Asia Cup tournament. These include captain Suryakumar Yadav, vice-captain Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Verma, Akshar Patel, Jaspreet Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh.

Talking about the most experienced players, Hardik Pandya is at the forefront. He has been a part of the Indian team in four Asia Cup editions (2016, 2018, 2022 and 2023). However, he got injured in 2018. After him, Jasprit Bumrah has played in three Asia Cups (2016, 2018 and 2023).
Suryakumar Yadav (2022, 2023), Axar Patel (2022, 2023) and Kuldeep Yadav (2018, 2023) have been a part of this tournament twice, while Shubman Gill (2023), Tilak Verma (2023) and Arshdeep Singh (2022) have experience of one Asia Cup each.

If we look at the T20I record of Indian players in the last one year (from August 2024 till now), there are some players in this squad who have not played a single match. Vice-captain Shubman Gill, wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav have not played any T20I match in the last one year, but considering their form and experience, they have been given a place in the team.
The players who have played the most matches are Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Abhishek Sharma, Varun Chakraborty and Sanju Samson, who have played 12-12 T20 Internationals. All these players are in excellent form and can prove to be important for the team.
Rinku Singh has played 10 matches, while Arshdeep Singh, Tilak Verma and Axar Patel have played nine matches each. Shivam Dubey has got a chance in two and Harshit Rana in just one match. Dubey remained away from cricket for most of the time due to his injury, while Harshit has been selected on the basis of his impressive IPL performance.
