The countdown to the ODI World Cup 2023 has begun. This tournament will start on October 5, for which all the teams are making their preparations in full swing. Cricket Australia recently announced its 18-member squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
About two months before the upcoming ODI World Cup, Cricket Australia has announced an 18-member squad for the marquee tournament. Pat Cummins will be seen captaining the Australian team in the ODI World Cup. There will be a maximum of 15 players in a squad for the World Cup. According to Cricket Australia, out of these 18 players, 15 players will be selected and the rest will be kept in reserve.
CWC 2023, Cummins did not play on the Indian tour due to personal reasons. He has also returned to the World Cup squad. Apart from this, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has also made a comeback. Australia has to play ODI series against South Africa and then against India before the World Cup. Cricket Australia has said that this team will play in the series against both.
Australia played the last ODI in India in March. Marnus Labushen was also included in the Australian team then. However, Labushen is not named in the team selected for the World Cup. That is, he has been dropped from the World Cup plan and team. Labushen, who has a great average in Tests, has not performed well in ODIs. So far in 30 ODIs, he has scored 847 runs at an average of 31.37. These include one century and six half-centuries.
