The Champions Trophy 2025 will be played from February 19 to March 9 next year, with March 10 being the reserve day for the final. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent a draft of the 15 matches of the tournament to the ICC. The ICC will approve this schedule only after getting consent from the boards of the 8 teams participating in the tournament.
Pakistan may face its biggest rival India on March 1 in Lahore. However, the BCCI is yet to give its consent for the match. A senior ICC board member told PTI on Wednesday.
This will be the first time since 1996 that Pakistan will host a major ICC tournament. However, the PCB hosted the entire Asia Cup in 2008 and some of the Asia Cup matches were held in Pakistan last year as well.
The PCB has finalised a match between India and Pakistan on March 1 next year in the tentative schedule of the Champions Trophy. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet agreed to it.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has sent a schedule of 15 matches to the ICC for the Champions Trophy 2025. In which all the matches of India have been kept in Lahore due to security reasons.
ICC board member said, PCB has presented the draft of the 15-match ICC Champions Trophy. There will be seven matches in Lahore, three in Karachi and five in Rawalpindi. The opening matches will be played in Karachi, while the two semi-finals will be held in Karachi and Rawalpindi. Apart from this, the final match will be played in Lahore. All the matches of India will be held in Lahore, if the team reaches the semi-finals then this match will also be held in Lahore.
