The total brand value of the world's most popular T20 cricket league IPL has increased by 13% compared to last year to $ 12 billion i.e. Rs 1.01 lakh crore. This information has been given in the new report of Brand Finance, a company that does brand valuation. In 2023, for the first time, the total brand value of IPL crossed $ 10 billion. Last year it was $ 10.7 billion (Rs 90,679 crore). At the same time, in 2009, the valuation was $ 2 billion i.e. Rs 16,943 crore. The Indian Premier League started in the year 2008. Brand Finance has been releasing reports on the brand value of IPL since 2009.
The 2024 IPL brand valuation shows significant growth, with Chennai Super Kings leading the way with $122 million (52% increase), and Mumbai Indians second with $119 million (+36%), reflecting the league’s growing international influence and financial achievement.

CSK has the highest brand value among the 10 IPL teams. Chennai's value has increased by 52% to Rs 1,033 crore. Mumbai is second in terms of brand value, its valuation has increased by 36% to Rs 1,008 crore. RCB is third with a brand value of Rs 991 crore (+67%). KKR is fourth with a brand value of Rs 923 crore (+38%). SRH is fifth in this list.
Sunrisers Hyderabad has seen the biggest increase in brand value. The team's valuation has risen 76 per cent to Rs 719 crore, reflecting the league's growing international influence and financial achievements. Gujarat Titans has seen the least increase in brand value, at 5 per cent. Rajasthan Royals' brand value has risen 30 per cent, Delhi Capitals 24 per cent, Punjab Kings 49 per cent and Lucknow Super Giants 29 per cent. Gujarat Titans' brand value has seen the least increase, at just 5 per cent.
The IPL ecosystem today is worth $1.3 billion (around Rs 11,016 crore) and is closely watched across the world. CSK, MI, RCB, KKR and RR franchise teams are global brands today and have active participation in many T-20 leagues around the world.
Brand value is the value of the entire ecosystem of a league. The brand value of a tournament is determined by its broadcasting rights, revenue, spectators coming to the field, sponsors, title rights, TV and online spectators, price of players, price of teams and advertisements. In 2024, the brand value of IPL was Rs 1.01 lakh crore. That is, if someone wants to become the owner of IPL, then he will have to pay Rs 1.01 lakh crore to BCCI.
