Zimbabwe has created history by playing in the World Cup Qualifier 2023. Zimbabwe first posted a mammoth 408/6 against the United States at the Harare Sports Club and then bundled out the opponents for just 104 to seal a stunning 304-run victory. In this way it became the second biggest win in the history of Men's One Day International. India holds the record for the biggest win, which it achieved by 317 runs against Sri Lanka in January 2023.
Batting first, Zimbabwe scored 408 runs losing six wickets in 50 overs. This was the 14th highest total in ODI cricket. At the same time, this is the highest total of Zimbabwe in ODIs. Joylord Gumbi scored 78 runs and Innocent Kaya scored 32 runs. Both of them made an opening partnership of 56 runs. After this, Shaun Williams, who was captaining in the absence of Craig Irvine, added 160 runs for the second wicket with Gumby. Captain Williams was dismissed for 174 runs in 101 balls with the help of 21 fours and five sixes. Jongwe got out after scoring one run. Marumani remained unbeaten on 18 runs in six balls and Brad Evans scored three runs. Abhishek Paradkar took the maximum three wickets from USA. At the same time, JC Singh got two wickets and Nosthush Kenjige got one wicket.
In reply, Zimbabwe bundled out USA for 104 runs in 25.1 overs. Steven Taylor could not open account. Sushant Modani six runs, Monank Patel nine runs, Aaron Jones eight runs, Gajanand Singh 13 runs, Shayan Jahangir zero, Abhishek 24 runs, Nisarg Patel two runs, Jasdeep Singh 21 runs and Usman Rafiq were dismissed by six runs. Richard Ngarwa and Raza took two wickets each for Zimbabwe. At the same time, Evans, Jongwe and Burl got one wicket each. The 304-run victory is the second largest by a margin of runs in ODIs. India holds the record for the biggest win by a margin of runs. He won by 317 runs in Thiruvananthapuram against Sri Lanka this year.
