Bengaluru, June 4 — Jubilant scenes unfolded across Bengaluru on Wednesday as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) returned home following their historic maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title win. After 18 years of anticipation, the team finally etched their name in IPL history by defeating Punjab Kings in a thrilling final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on June 3.
The victorious RCB squad, led by Rajat Patidar and featuring star batter Virat Kohli, landed at the HAL Airport around 1:30 PM. A sea of supporters gathered at the airport to greet the champions. Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar was present to officially welcome the team on behalf of the state government.
From the airport, the team embarked on a celebratory procession to the Vidhana Soudha, the seat of Karnataka’s government. Fans thronged both sides of the road, waving flags, chanting slogans, and cheering the players with uncontainable excitement. Despite intermittent rain, the supporters’ spirits remained high, painting the city in RCB's iconic red and black.
Upon arrival at Vidhana Soudha, the team was felicitated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a formal ceremony. The gesture recognized not only the team’s success but also the devotion of its fanbase, which has remained loyal through nearly two decades of near-misses and heartbreaks.
