Team India's cricketers will now have to play domestic cricket only. They will neither be able to advertise nor travel with their families during the series. It has now been made mandatory for the players to attend practice sessions. After losing the Test series 3-1 in the Australia tour and reports of discord in the Indian team's dressing room, the BCCI released a guideline on Thursday night. In this, 10 new rules have been made to maintain discipline and unity in the team. According to these, the board has announced a ban on the presence of personal staff and players' families. Players will not be able to do personal photoshoots during the series or tour.
Players will not be able to travel with their families and wives during the entire tour. This rule will be applicable especially on foreign tours so that the performance of the players is not affected. For tours of less than 45 days, families and wives will be able to stay together for 7 days. If a player wants to travel with his family or separately, then he will have to take permission from the head coach and the chairman of the selection committee.
It has been made mandatory for the players of the Indian team to play in domestic tournaments. Not only this, the performance in domestic tournaments will be considered as the basis for the selection of the team. If a player does not play domestic cricket for any reason, then the information about it will have to be given to the board. Also, permission will have to be taken from the chairman of the selection committee.
Players will not be able to carry too much luggage on the tour. If the weight of the luggage of the player is more, then he will have to pay for it himself. The board has also issued separate guidelines for weight and luggage.
Long Tours (more than 30 days) Players: 5 pieces (3 suitcases+2 kit bags) or upto 150 kgs. Support Staff: 2 pieces (2 large+1 small suitcase) or upto 80 kgs.
Short Tours (less than 30 days) Players: 4 pieces (2 suitcases+2 kit bags) or upto 120 kgs. Support Staff: 2 pieces (2 suitcases) or upto 60 kgs.
Home Series Players: 4 pieces (2 suitcases+2 kit bags) or upto 120 kgs. Support Staff: 2 pieces (2 suitcases) or upto 60 kgs.
All players will have to contact the team management to send luggage or personal belongings during the training camp at the Centre of Excellence Bengaluru. If any item is sent by a different mode, then the extra cost will have to be borne by the player.
The player's personal staff (such as personal manager, chef, assistants and security) will not go on any series or tour unless permission is obtained from the board.
Now every player will have to be present in the practice session. No one will leave the practice session early. During a series or tournament, players will have to travel from one venue to another in a team bus. The board has made this rule for bonding among the players.
No player will be allowed to do personal shoots during the series and tour. No player will be able to advertise during this time. The board has taken this decision so that the attention of the players is not diverted.
If a player stays for 45 days on a foreign tour, then his wife and a child below 18 years of age can stay with him for 2 weeks in a series. During this time, BCCI will bear the cost of their stay, but the player will have to bear all the other expenses.
On the other hand, only after talking to the coach and captain, anyone (relative or anyone else) can come to the player on a final date. On the other hand, if a player breaks the rules during this time, then the coach, captain and GM Operations will be responsible for it. The player will bear the expenses after the deadline.
Every player will have to participate in BCCI's official shoots, promotions and any other kind of programs. This decision has been taken to promote the game and for the benefit of stakeholders.
Every player will have to stay with the team till the end of the tour. Even if the series ends early, the player will have to stay with the team. Every player will return with the team on the fixed date. During this time, no player will be able to go home early. This decision has been taken for team bonding.
The board has instructed all the players to strictly follow the guidelines. Not only this, it has also warned of disciplinary action if the rules are not followed. If a player is unable to follow any of these instructions, he will have to take permission from the chairman of the selection committee and the head coach.
If a player breaks the rules, the board will not allow him to play in tournaments, series and even IPL. Apart from this, the board can also terminate the salary and contract of the players.
