Bangladesh Squad: The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Friday, August 22, announced a 16-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan has been included in the squad. He last played a T20 International three years ago. Interestingly, former captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto has not found a place in the team.
Apart from Nurul, Saif Hasan is also making a comeback to the national T20 team after a gap of one and a half years. The batsman last played for Bangladesh in the 2023 Asian Games. After this he was dropped from the team. Nurul has been approaching the selection committee for some time on the basis of his performance in domestic cricket. Recently he also played for the Bangladesh A team.
31-year-old Nurul last played a T20 International during the ICC T20 World Cup held in Australia in November 2022. Mehdi Hasan Miraz, who was part of the last T20 International team, could not retain his place in the 16-man squad. He has been placed in the reserve list. Apart from Mehdi, Soumya Sarkar, Tanvir Islam and Hasan Mahmud have been selected as stand-bys for the Asia Cup.
Interestingly, former T20 International captain Nazmul Hussain also did not find a place in the stand-by list. The same players will also take part in the three-match T20 International series against the Netherlands starting in Sylhet on August 30. Liton Das will captain the team.
