Liton Das, who captained Bangladesh in the 2025 Asia Cup, has not been included in the squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Zaker Ali will captain the team in his place. He also captained in Liton's absence during the Asia Cup. Das is injured and is therefore out. Both his injury and his absence are not good news for Bangladesh. He is one of the team's key batsmen. He suffered a Grade 1 injury during the Asia Cup.
Team physio Bezdul Islam Khan has stated that Liton is currently recovering and is under the supervision of the medical team. Cricbuzz quoted him as saying, He missed two matches of the Asia Cup due to a side strain. An MRI scan revealed a Grade 1 strain in his left abdominal muscle. He is recovering well and will not be available for the T20 series. The medical team will continue his rehabilitation under his supervision.
Soumya Sarkar has been included in the squad in place of Liton. Other than that, there are no changes to the squad. The entire team is the same as the one that played in the Asia Cup. The three-match T20 series will begin on October 2. The first match will be played in Sharjah, while the second match will be played at the same stadium on October 3. The third and final match will also be played at the same stadium on October 5.
