Bangladesh Announce ODI Squad for Afghanistan Series in Abu Dhabi
Bangladesh will play a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in October, for which the Bangladesh ODI squad has been announced. Saif Hasan, who performed well in T20 cricket, has been included in the ODI squad for the first time. Nurul Hasan has also returned to the ODI team after two years.
Saif Hasan impressed everyone with his brilliant batting in the T20 Asia Cup 2025 and emerged as a star player for the team. He scored 61 against Sri Lanka and 69 against India in the Super 4s. Furthermore, he led the team to victory against Afghanistan with an unbeaten 23 off 13 balls. He also performed well in domestic cricket for Bangladesh. Now, the selectors have rewarded his performance by selecting him in the ODI squad.
Liton Das ruled out of the squad due to injury-
Regular T20 captain Liton Das was not included in the ODI series due to an injury sustained during the 2025 Asia Cup. As a result, he missed the series against Afghanistan. Parvez Hossain Emon was also dropped from the squad. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been named Bangladesh's captain for the ODI series.
Several Bangladeshi players have faced visa-related issues. Mohammad Naim, who was selected for the ODI team, is currently in the capital, Dhaka, as he has not been able to obtain a visa for the UAE team. ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Hasan Mahmud, Tanvir Islam, and Nahid Rana are also expected to join the team soon.
The first ODI between Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be played on October 8. The second ODI will be played on October 11 and the third on October 14. All three ODIs will be played at the Abu Dhabi Stadium.
