Australia's star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is set to return to the squad for the final three matches of the T20 series against India after recovering from a wrist injury. Maxwell suffered a wrist fracture during net practice in New Zealand last month, ruling him out of the first two matches of the series. His return is a major boost for the team, especially as he has the ability to turn matches around with his explosive batting and useful off-spin bowling. Cricket Australia confirmed on Friday, October 24, that he will be available for the third, fourth, and fifth T20Is of the series.

Several other changes have been made to the squad for the T20I series:
- Mahli Beardman's debut call-up: Young fast bowler Mahli Beardman, who impressed with his recent domestic performances, has been included in the T20I squad. The 20-year-old Beardman was part of the Australian team that won the Under-19 World Cup last year, taking 10 wickets. He will be part of the team from the third T20I.
- Ben Dwarshuis availability: Fast bowler Ben Dwarshuis, who has recovered from a calf injury, will join the squad for the fourth and fifth T20Is.
- Josh Philippe selection for the entire series: Wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Philippe has been included in the squad for the entire five-match T20I series.
- Hazlewood and Abbott rested: In order to prepare for the Ashes series, veteran fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will only feature in the first two T20Is, while Sean Abbott will not be part of the squad for the last two matches. This will give both bowlers a chance to prepare for the Sheffield Shield matches before the Ashes series, which begins on November 21st.
