Konstas was selected for Australia A in the series against India A in October-November 2024. In the second unofficial Test, he played an important role by scoring an unbeaten 73 in the second innings, which helped his team win. In this summer session, Constance scored 736 runs, due to which many people praised him.
Konstas was praised by cricket commentators and many veterans. Former England captain Michael Vaughan advocated his inclusion in the Test team. Konstas proved his talent by scoring 718 runs in 11 first class matches at an average of 42.23. At the same time, he has scored 56 runs in one T20.
Talking about 19-year-old Konstas, he played a brilliant innings of 107 runs while playing for Prime Minister XI against India in Canberra. On 6 December, he scored 88 runs in a first-class match, and on 17 December, he scored 56 runs in a T20 match.
Konstas is likely to open with Usman Khawaja. If right-handed Sam gets the Baggy Green Cap on Boxing Day, he will become the youngest Australian Test debutant after current captain Pat Cummins. Cummins was 18 years and 193 days old when he made his debut against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2011.
Konstas will also become the second youngest player to debut for Australia, and the youngest specialist batsman. Earlier, Ian Craig made his debut against South Africa at the MCG in 1953, when he was 17 years and 239 days old.
