Asia Cup 2023 will be remembered for records. India won the Asia Cup for the 8th time by defeating Sri Lanka (IND vs SL) in 37 balls. The Sri Lankan team was all out for 50 runs in the final in front of the bowling of Indian bowlers led by Mohammed Siraj.
Thanks to the lethal bowling of Hyderabad fast bowler Mohammed Siraj, India won the Asia Cup for the eighth time by defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. Siraj took six wickets for 21 runs and bowled out Sri Lanka for 50 runs, the lowest score of the Asia Cup. The Sri Lankan batsman could play only 92 balls (15.2 overs). In reply, Shubhman Gill (27*) and Ishan Kishan (23*) achieved the target in just 6.1 overs.
This was the most one-sided final in Asia Cup history, with the winning team winning by 10 wickets with 263 balls remaining. This was India's 10th final of the Asia Cup. This was its eighth final in the Asia Cup with Sri Lanka, in which India won for the fifth time. Siraj took four wickets in his fourth and second over of the innings. No Indian bowler had done this before in ODIs. Not only this, he equaled the world record of Chaminda Vaas (Sri Lanka) by taking the fastest five wickets in a span of 16 balls. Most runs in Asia Cup 2023, Shubman Gill remained at the top among the batsmen who scored the most runs in the tournament. He scored 302 runs in six matches. At the same time, Kusal Mendis of Sri Lanka stood second with 270 runs in six matches and Sadira Samarawickrama of Sri Lanka stood third with 215 runs in six matches. Bowlers taking the most wickets in Asia Cup 2023, Talking about bowling, in this edition of the Asia Cup, bowlers managed to take five or more wickets a total of three times. Apart from Siraj (21/6), these include Kuldeep Yadav (25/5) and Dunith Velalge (40/6). Sri Lanka's Mathisha Pathirana topped the list of highest wicket takers in the tournament.
