Andre Russell announced his retirement from International Cricket: West Indies' legendary all-rounder Andre Russell has announced his retirement from international cricket. The 37-year-old all-rounder will play the last two matches of his career against Australia, which will be a T20 match.
Russell has been selected for the five-match home T20 series against Australia. The first two matches of this series will be played at Sabina Park in Jamaica, which is Russell's home ground. After these two matches, Russell will say goodbye to international cricket. West Indies Cricket paid tribute to him in a post on social media. Russell's statement is also there in it.

Andre Russell on retirement: “Words cannot describe what it meant. Representing the West Indies has been one of the proudest achievements of my life. When I was a kid, I didn’t expect to reach this point, but as you start playing and fall in love with the game, you realise what you can achieve. It motivated me to become even better because I wanted to leave my mark in the West Indies jersey and be an inspiration to others.”
“I love playing for the West Indies and I also love playing at home in front of my family and friends, where I get a chance to showcase my talent and perform even better. I want to end my international career on a high note and also be an inspiration to the next generation of Caribbean cricketers.”

Andre Russell has played only one Test for West Indies in his career, while he has played 56 ODIs, in which he has scored 1,034 runs at an average of 27.21, a strike rate of over 130, four half-centuries and a best score of 92*. In ODIs, he has taken 70 wickets at an average of 31.84, with his best bowling performance being 4/35. The 37-year-old was part of the West Indies team that won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2016.
Russell plays in many T20 leagues around the world, including the Indian Premier League. He has scored 9,316 runs in 561 matches of various T20 leagues at an average of 26.39 and a strike rate of over 168. During this period, he has scored two centuries and 33 half-centuries, and his best score has been 121*. As a bowler, he has taken 485 wickets with an average of 25.85 and a best performance of 5/15.

Russell made his T20 International debut against Pakistan on 21 April 2011. He scored 1078 runs in 73 innings of 84 T20 Internationals played in his career. During this, he scored 3 half-centuries. His best score in this format is 71 runs. Russell also took 61 wickets in this format. His average as a bowler is 30.59 and economy is 9.30. His best bowling performance in this format is 3/19.
