With this, he has become the joint third Indian batsman to score 50+ in Test cricket the most number of times in a year. Gundappa Vishwanath in 1979 and Mohinder Amarnath in 1983 had scored 50+ in Test cricket 11 times in a year.

Sunil Gavaskar in 1979 and Sachin Tendulkar in 2010 have scored 50+ 12 times in Test cricket in a year. Both of them are jointly second in this matter. Sachin also scored the most runs that year, 1562, which included seven centuries and five half-centuries. Out of these, he also scored two double centuries.
