Indian batsmen have played many memorable innings in ODI cricket. From Sachin Tendulkar to Rohit Sharma, many players have scored double and triple centuries, but surprisingly, some of India's great and legendary players have only one century to their name in ODI International. These include names like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev.
Sunil Gavaskar holds the record for being the first to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket. Gavaskar also had a long ODI career. He played 108 ODIs for India and scored only one century during this period. This century was scored against New Zealand in Nagpur in the 1987 World Cup, when he scored 103 runs. This was the only century of his ODI career.
India's first World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev is considered one of the greatest all-rounders in the world. He played 225 ODIs and scored 3783 runs, but the only century of his ODI career came against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup. In that match, India had lost 5 wickets for 17 runs, then Kapil Dev scored an unbeaten 175 runs and led the team to a glorious victory.
Sanjay Manjrekar, who is considered one of the technically strong batsmen of India, played 74 ODIs. He scored 15 half-centuries but a century only once. He scored 100 runs against South Africa in 1991. After this, he could not reach the century mark again.
Dilip Vengsarkar played 116 Tests for India and scored 17 centuries, but his story in ODIs was different. He scored 23 half-centuries in 129 matches, but scored only one century. This innings came against New Zealand in 1988, when he scored 105 runs.
Robin Singh, who played 136 ODIs for India, was a reliable middle-order batsman, but he has only one century to his name. He scored this century against Sri Lanka in 1997. The special thing is that this was the only century in his entire List-A career.
