Praveen Kumar achieved the feat of taking a wicket on the first ball of his IPL match in 2011 against Chennai Super Kings. In the ninth match of the tournament, he took the wicket of Srikkanth Anirudh on the first ball of the first over of CSK's batting. Punjab Kings managed to win this match by 6 wickets.

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan is also included in this list. The 34th match of IPL 2009 was played between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings. He first achieved this feat in the sixth match of IPL 2014, which was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals. Shami took the wicket of Jacques Kallis on the first ball of this match. Shami did the feat for the second time in IPL 2022 (vs Lucknow Super Giants) and for the third time in 2023 (vs Delhi Capitals).
