Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has finally broken his silence after ex-wife Dhanashree Verma accused him of cheating during the early months of their marriage. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Chahal dismissed the claims, asserting that he has moved on from the relationship and does not wish to revisit that chapter of his life.
Yuzvendra Chahal Denies Cheating Allegations
Responding to Dhanashree’s allegations, Chahal made it clear that the accusations are baseless. The leg-spinner emphasized that his personal and professional integrity remains intact, and he prefers to focus on his cricketing career rather than controversies.
“I am a sportsperson and I do not cheat. Agar koi two months mein hi cheat karta toh itna lamba relationship chalta kya? (If someone cheats in the second month, would the relationship last so long?) For me, this chapter is over, done and dusted. I have moved forward with my life and everyone else should too,” said Chahal.
He further questioned the logic behind the accusation, pointing out that their marriage lasted for over four years. Chahal noted that if cheating had indeed occurred early on, their relationship wouldn’t have continued for that long.
“Hamari shaadi 4.5 years ki thi. Agar two months mein cheat hua hota toh kaun continue karta? Main pehle bhi bol chuka hoon ki main past se nikal chuka hoon. But some people are still stuck there,” he said.
“People Still Use My Name for Attention,” Says Chahal

The 35-year-old cricketer hinted that some individuals continue to use his name for publicity. He stated that he no longer pays attention to the ongoing social media chatter surrounding his past relationship.
“Abhi bhi kai log uss cheez ko pakde hue hain, abhi bhi unka ghar mere naam se chal raha hai toh they can continue doing that. I am not concerned or affected. And I have a feeling this is the last time I am addressing that chapter of my life,” Chahal added.
He concluded by stressing that he has mentally and emotionally moved on, focusing solely on his career and future goals.
“Main iss chapter ko bhula chuka hoon. Koi kuch bhi keh deta hai, and social media pe chal jata hai. 100 baatein chalti hain, but the truth is only one, and those who matter know it. Mere liye chapter closed hai. I don't want to address it ever again. I am focusing on my life and on my game,” he said.
Dhanashree Verma’s Side of the Story
Dhanashree Verma, who currently appears on the reality show Rise And Fall, recently made headlines after discussing her failed marriage. During a candid conversation with actress Kubbra Sait on the show, Dhanashree revealed that she realized their relationship was falling apart within the first year of marriage.
When Kubbra asked, “When did you realise in your relationship that, 'Bhai, yeh nahi chal sakta, yeh mistake ho gaya hai abhi?'” Dhanashree replied, “First year. Caught him in the second month,” implying infidelity on Chahal’s part.
The Divorce and Aftermath

The couple’s relationship officially ended earlier this year. In February 2025, Chahal and Dhanashree were seen outside the Bandra Family Court, where they filed for divorce by mutual consent. They also requested a waiver for the mandatory six-month cooling-off period, which was denied by the court.
After living separately for 18 months, their divorce was finalized on March 20, 2025. Since then, both have continued with their respective careers — Chahal with his cricketing commitments and Dhanashree with her entertainment ventures.
Moving Forward
While the controversy has reignited public discussions about their relationship, Yuzvendra Chahal’s latest statement makes it clear that he has chosen to leave the past behind. The cricketer appears focused on his professional goals, reaffirming his dedication to the sport and to maintaining his personal integrity amid ongoing speculation.
