Both the teams will face each other at Sir Vivian Richard Stadium in Antigua. This match will be played on June 24 from 6 am Indian time. This match is going to be very important considering the race for the semi-finals.
Do or die match for West Indies
To make it to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, host West Indies will have to win the last match of the Super Eight stage against South Africa at any cost. After losing to England in the first match of the Super Eight stage, West Indies defeated co-host USA by nine wickets. Now with a win, its entry into the last four will be confirmed, whereas if it loses, the matter will go to net run rate and that too only if USA defeats England in the second match. On the other hand, South Africa has won all six matches so far but it also needs a win. If it loses, its entry into the last four will also depend on the results of the remaining matches and net run rate.
Roston Chase said in the pre-match press conference that whenever we perform well in the powerplay, we win the match. Now the focus will be on bowling and batting well in the powerplay. On the other hand, South Africa does not look confident despite winning all the matches. Novice teams like USA and Nepal gave them a tough fight. South African spinner Keshav Maharaj said that if we look at all the previous World Cups, we have lost many close matches.
