Why does Pakistan celebrate its Independence Day a day before India?: India and Pakistan will celebrate their 78th Independence Day this year. While Pakistan got independence on 14 August 1947 (Pakistan Independence Day) and India got independence on the next day i.e. 15 August 1947 (India Independence Day), however, a question arises between these two days that earlier Pakistan used to be a part of India and both got independence on the same day, then why do both celebrate Independence Day on different days?
If historians are to be believed, there is a reason behind the formation of Pakistan by separating from India. Some believe that Pakistan was recognized as an independent country on 14 August, so Independence Day is celebrated there on this day. On 14 August 1947, the then Viceroy Lord Mountbatten gave Pakistan the status of an independent country. Along with this, some geographical reasons are also given behind the independence of Pakistan. Actually, the reason behind this is the standard time of both the countries, the standard time of Pakistan is 30 minutes behind India. Actually, when it is 12 o'clock in India, the clocks of Pakistan are showing the time of 11.30.
Apart from this, some reports say that on the night of 14 August, when the British government signed the Indian Independence Act, it was 00.00 in the night. That is, according to Indian time, the date of 15 August had already arrived, but in Pakistan it was only 11.30 in the night of 14 August. This is the reason why Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day on 14 August.
Historians also tell that for the first two years after independence, Pakistan also used to celebrate Independence Day on 15 August, but after the death of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Independence Day started being celebrated on 14 August in Pakistan. This is the reason why Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day a day before India.
