Volcanic eruption in Russia: The Russian Geophysical Survey has reported that the Kluchevskaya volcano in Russia's Far East erupted on Wednesday. The eruption came hours after a major earthquake, following which people were evacuated to safer places in parts of the Pacific coast. "Kluchevskaya is erupting right now," the survey said on Telegram. The survey posted photos of orange flames above the volcano and said "red hot lava is seen flowing from the western slope. A bright glow and explosions are visible above the volcano."

A powerful 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Russia's Far East early Wednesday triggered tsunami waves in Japan, Hawaii in the US and the Pacific Ocean. The earthquake is believed to be the most powerful earthquake in the world since March 2011. Several people have been injured due to the earthquake and tsunami, no major damage has been reported so far. However, officials have warned people to stay away from the coastlines.
