Today marks an important initiative for farmers and agriculture-linked families in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will distribute financial assistance to beneficiaries under two key welfare schemes during a special event. The move is seen as a significant step toward strengthening financial security and boosting confidence in the state’s agricultural sector.

Compensation Under the Crop Insurance Scheme

Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, nearly 251,000 farmers who suffered crop losses during the Kharif 2025 season will receive compensation totaling ₹285 crore.

The objective of this support is to cushion farmers against risks such as adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, and unforeseen agricultural setbacks, enabling them to prepare for the next sowing cycle.

Support for Families Affected by Farm Accidents

Through the Chief Minister’s Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme, around 3,500 beneficiary families will be granted financial assistance amounting to ₹175 crore. This scheme provides crucial relief to families that have faced tragic losses or serious injuries related to farming activities.

Life Insurance Cover for “Aapda Mitras”

The program also includes the provision of life insurance coverage for “Aapda Mitras” (disaster volunteers).

These volunteers play a vital role in disaster response and relief efforts, and the insurance cover aims to enhance their safety and security.

Strengthening Agricultural Infrastructure

The Chief Minister will lay the foundation stones for several agriculture-focused infrastructure projects across multiple districts:

  • Baghpat, Shamli, Kasganj, and Bhadohi
    • Offices of Deputy Directors of Agriculture
    • Soil Testing Laboratories

These facilities are expected to help farmers access scientific guidance on soil health, fertilizer usage, and modern farming practices.

Focus on Education and Innovation

Additional projects emphasize agricultural education and technological advancement:

  • A 50-bed hostel building in Jhansi (Mau Ranipur)
  • A Smart Agriculture Bureau Studio Unit in Lucknow

Such initiatives aim to modernize knowledge-sharing, research, and communication within the agriculture ecosystem.

Event Venue and Official Statement

The event will be held at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Lucknow.

According to Agriculture Director Dr. Pankaj Tripathi, the program reflects the government’s strong commitment to farmer welfare and agricultural development in Uttar Pradesh.

Presence of Key Dignitaries

Several senior leaders and officials will attend the ceremony, including:

  • Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi
  • Minister of State for Agriculture Baldev Singh Aulakh

A Step Toward Farmer Empowerment

The combined efforts of financial aid distribution and infrastructure development are expected to reinforce stability in the agricultural sector.

This initiative is widely viewed as a supportive measure designed to help farmers recover from losses and move toward a more secure and productive future.
