After Dream11's alleged exit, a few companies have shown interest in joining hands with the BCCI as title sponsors. According to media reports, the fantasy gaming platform has informed the BCCI that it will no longer sponsor the Indian cricket team, after the 'Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill' was passed by both houses of Parliament on Thursday.
Following the decision, the BCCI is looking for a new sponsor ahead of the Asia Cup, which begins in the UAE on September 9. According to NDTV, two companies have shown interest in becoming the title sponsor of the Indian cricket team.
Toyota Likely to Replace Dream11 as Team India Jersey Sponsor
After Dream11 parted ways with BCCI, Toyota Motors has reportedly shown interest in sponsoring Team India's cricket jersey. With just a few weeks left for the Asia Cup 2025, and after the recent passage of the 'Online Gaming Promotion and Regulation Bill, 2025', which bans real money gaming platforms, Team India is without a jersey sponsor.
According to the latest reports, Toyota Motor Corporation and a fintech startup have shown interest in becoming the main sponsor of the Indian team's jersey. The official tender process is yet to begin, but reportedly, the BCCI is expecting a higher amount than what it received from Dream11.
What happened between Dream11 and BCCI?
Dream11 joined hands with BCCI in a deal worth Rs 358 crore in 2023. The deal was supposed to last longer before the rule was passed. Parliament passed a law that banned money-based online games, as the government believed that these games affect people, and cause mental stress and financial losses. As a result, the match was cancelled prematurely and the BCCI is now looking for a new jersey sponsor.
