Shefali Jariwala, best known for her iconic performance in the early 2000s music video Kaanta Laga, passed away at the age of 42 in Mumbai. The actress was found unresponsive at her residence in Andheri and was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
According to preliminary reports, the cause of death appears to be a sudden cardiac arrest. However, a final confirmation is awaited following the post-mortem examination at Cooper Hospital. Mumbai Police and forensic officials were spotted at her residence shortly after the incident, adding a layer of mystery to the unexpected demise.
Hospital staff confirmed she had no vital signs upon arrival. While Dr Vijay Lulla, a consulting cardiologist, refrained from making any official statement, hospital sources verified her death late Friday night.
Visuals from outside the hospital showed her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, visibly heartbroken. He was seen leaving the premises late Saturday night, shielding his face from cameras. Family members, including Shefali’s mother, were also seen grieving outside the hospital, adding to the sombre mood.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association expressed their condolences, stating that Shefali Jariwala is no longer with us and has gone too soon at just 42 due to a sudden heart attack. They added that it's hard to believe she’s gone and prayed for strength for her grieving family.
Shefali shot to fame with her appearance in Kaanta Laga, which became a cultural phenomenon. The success of the video launched her into the limelight, and she soon became a household name. Her film credits include roles in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi alongside Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, as well as in the Kannada film Hudugaru.
Shefali also made notable television appearances, including stints on reality shows such as Bigg Boss 13 and Nach Baliye (Seasons 5 and 7). She was lauded for her candid conversations around mental health and for promoting emotional resilience through her public platform.
