Salman Khan Sikandar Loses 1100 Shows in Just 3 Days

Salman Khan's much-anticipated Eid release of 2025, Sikandar, has encountered a turbulent journey at the box office. Despite the initial excitement, the film has seen a significant reduction in its theatrical screenings within just three days of its release.

Upon its debut on Sunday, Sikandar was showcased in over 8,000 theaters across India. However, by Wednesday, this number had dwindled to approximately 6,900 screenings, marking a reduction of about 1,100 shows. This decline is indicative of the film's struggle to maintain audience interest and footfalls in cinemas.

Box Office Performance

The film's box office trajectory reflects its challenges:

  • Sunday (Opening Day): Rs 26 crore
  • Monday: Rs 29 crore
  • Tuesday: Rs 22 crore

As of Tuesday, Sikandar had amassed a total of Rs 77 crore. While these figures might seem substantial, they fall short of the benchmarks set by Salman Khan's previous Eid releases. For instance, Bharat (2019) opened with Rs 42.30 crore, and Sultan (2016) garnered Rs 36.54 crore on its first day.

When juxtaposed with other recent releases, Sikandar's performance appears modest. Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava opened with Rs 31 crore, surpassing Sikandar's opening figures. Moreover, Chhaava maintained a steady collection trend, highlighting the contrasting audience reception between the two films.

Several elements have contributed to the underwhelming performance of Sikandar:

  • Critical Reception: The film received predominantly negative reviews from critics, impacting its appeal to potential viewers.
  • Audience Word-of-Mouth: Negative feedback from initial audiences further deterred prospective moviegoers, leading to decreased footfalls.
  • Competition: The sustained success of Chhaava posed stiff competition, diverting audience attention and preference.

Sikandar's journey underscores the unpredictable nature of the film industry, where star power alone doesn't guarantee success. The film's rapid decline in screenings and box office collections serves as a testament to the critical role of content quality and audience engagement in determining a movie's fate.
