Till now, whenever there was talk of short videos, the first names that came to your mind were Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. But now another big player is going to enter this race. Actually Netflix is also preparing to make a bang entry in the world of short videos. Yes, the same Netflix on which we watch web series and movies.
Netflix is going to add a new feature to its mobile app in which users will be able to watch short videos in vertical format like Instagram. The special thing is that these videos will be according to the user's choice, that is, everyone will get different and favorite content.
What is Netflix new plan?
Netflix is now going to introduce a mobile-only video feed that will be just like Reels and Shorts. In this, the user will be able to swipe to the next video as soon as one video ends, can save the video if he likes it and can also share it with friends if he wants.
Netflix says that these videos will not be random but will be selected from the 'Today's Top Picks for You' section, so that the user will see the same content that is according to his choice.
Will YouTube and Instagram compete?
There is no doubt that Instagram and YouTube are the biggest platforms for short videos today. But Netflix now wants to prevent its mobile users from leaving the app. That is why the company has decided to bring this short video feature so that people can watch not only movies and series but also funny short videos in the same app.
When will it be launched?
Currently Netflix is testing this feature in the US and it can soon be rolled out for users there. However, Indian users may have to wait a bit as no official information has been given yet about when this feature will come to India.
Why is this a game changer for Netflix?
Short videos have become the most watched content in today's time. People spend hours watching reels and shorts on Instagram and YouTube. In such a situation, if Netflix brings a smart, personalized video feed on the same lines, then not only will users spend more time on the app, but Netflix's hold will become stronger among mobile users.
This new plan of Netflix clearly shows that the company no longer wants to be limited to the world of OTT. Netflix is now ready to compete with giants like Instagram and YouTube and if this feature becomes a hit, then Netflix can really bring a new storm in the world of social media.
