Navratri is one of the most celebrated and spiritually significant Hindu festivals in India. As the nine days of devotion progress, each day is dedicated to a unique manifestation of Goddess Durga. On September 28, 2025, devotees will celebrate the seventh day of Navratri, also known as Saptami Tithi in the Shukla Paksha of the month of Ashwin. This day is devoted to Goddess Kaalratri, the fierce and powerful form of Maa Durga.
The Fierce Goddess Kaalratri
Goddess Kaalratri is regarded as the fiercest form of Maa Durga, embodying courage, destruction of evil, and the triumph of truth. She is often described as dark-complexioned, like a moonless night, with unkempt hair and a garland made of human skulls (Narmund mala). She rides a donkey and is depicted with four hands, two carrying a cleaver and a torch, while the other two bless devotees and protect them from harm.
Her three glowing eyes symbolise the past, present, and future, radiating immense power. Though her form appears fearsome, she is benevolent toward her devotees, offering them strength, wisdom, and protection against evil forces.

Significance of Day 7 of Navratri
The seventh day of Navratri holds immense spiritual and cultural importance. Worshipping Maa Kaalratri is believed to remove fear, ignorance, and negative energies. She is the destroyer of demons, evil spirits, and dark forces that block one’s path in life.
Devotees believe that Maa Kaalratri blesses them with courage, inner strength, and wisdom. She reminds us that life is a balance of creation and destruction, urging us to embrace change with resilience. Worshippers seek her blessings to overcome addictions, harmful influences, and obstacles.
For yogis and tantriks, Maa Kaalratri’s worship is especially significant as she governs the Sahasrara Chakra (crown chakra), helping in the awakening of spiritual consciousness. She also rules over the planet Shani (Saturn), which is why devotees with Shani dosha in their horoscopes are advised to worship her to nullify its malefic effects.
Navratri 2025 Day 7 Colour
The colour of the day is Orange, which signifies positivity, energy, and vibrancy. Devotees wear orange attire and offer orange flowers, saffron, and cloth to Goddess Kaalratri during puja rituals.
