On the occasion of Diwali, Indian cinema has lost a legendary and versatile actor. Renowned comedian and actor Asrani (Govardhan Asrani) passed away today at the age of 84. The veteran actor had been ill for a long time. He had been hospitalized for four days and passed away at 3 p.m. today.
Speaking to the media, Asrani's manager, Babu Bhai, stated that the actor was admitted to the hospital four days ago after his health deteriorated. It was discovered that Asrani's lungs had been filled with fluid. He was undergoing continuous treatment, and in the meantime, the actor lost the battle between life and death. A few hours before his passing, Asrani wished his fans a Happy Diwali on Instagram.
Asrani's funeral also took place
Asrani did not want any publicity surrounding his death. Therefore, he asked his wife, Manju, not to inform anyone. As a result, the family performed Asrani's last rites just hours after his death. Asrani was immersed in the five elements today at the Shantinagar crematorium in Santacruz. The family is expected to announce a prayer meeting for him soon.
Asrani's Film Career
Asrani's full name was Govardhan Asrani. He was a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan. He entered Bollywood with the 1967 film "Hari Kaanch Ki Churiyan." In his 58-year film career, Asrani built a strong fan base with his acting and comedic style. He appeared in over 350 films. His blockbuster films include "Sholay," "Abhimaan," "Chupke Chupke," "Chhoti Si Baat," and "Bhool Bhulaiyaa." Along with acting, the late actor also dabbled in film production and worked in Gujarati cinema.
