Kartik Purnima kab hai: Kartik month is very dear to Lord Vishnu. The full moon of this Hindu month is called Kartik Purnima. This day has a very special significance in Sanatan Dharma.

Kartik Purnima 2024 Date: When will Kartik Purnima be celebrated?

Kartik Purnima is on 15th November this year. Kartik month is considered to be very auspicious and fruitful among all the months. It is believed that bathing in the holy river and donating on the day of Kartik Purnima gives results equivalent to the worship done for the whole month. Astrologer Dr. Anish Vyas, Director of Pal Balaji Astrology Institute Jaipur - Jodhpur, told that Kartik Purnima is known as Dev Diwali (Dev Diwali 2024).

Tripurari Purnima 2024:

Lord Vishnu took the Matsya avatar in Kartik month. It is considered to be the first incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In ancient times, when the deluge came, God protected the whole world in the form of Matsya avatar. Kartik Purnima is also known as Tripurari Purnima. It is believed that on this date, Lord Shiva killed a demon named Tripurasura, due to which it is called Tripurari Purnima.

Kartik Purnima is also celebrated as the Diwali of the Gods (Dev Diwali). For this reason it is called Dev Diwali. On this day there is a tradition of bathing in holy rivers and lighting lamps. Along with this, special importance has been given to religious works like havan, donation, chanting, penance etc. According to Vishnu Purana, Lord Narayana took the Matsya avatar on this day. Also, a penumbral lunar eclipse is also taking place on this day. Due to which the importance of this day increases even more. The bath of this month will end on the last date of Kartik month i.e. Purnima. It is believed that bathing in the holy river, lighting lamps, performing puja-paath, aarti, havan and donation on Kartik Purnima leads to attainment of Akshaya Punya.

Satyanarayan Katha and Donation:

The story of Lord Satyanarayan should be read and heard. Fruits, grains, pulses, rice, warm clothes etc. should be donated to the needy people. If you cannot go to take bath in the river on Kartik Purnima, then wake up early in the morning at home and take bath by adding some Gangajal in the water. While bathing, one should meditate on all the pilgrimages and rivers. Wake up early in the morning and after bathing, offer water to the Sun. Offer water from a copper vessel.

Surya mantras should be chanted while offering arghya. Donate green grass and money to the cowshed. Offer water to the Shivling on this day. Chant the Om Namah Shivaya mantra. Light camphor and perform aarti. Along with Shiva, also worship Ganesha, Mata Parvati, Kartikeya Swami and Nandi. Light a lamp in front of Hanuman ji and recite Hanuman Chalisa or Sundarkand.
