Karnataka Budget 2025: Key Benefits for Women, Children & Infra

Karnataka Budget 2025: In the Karnataka Budget 2025, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has allocated Rs 7,000 crore for the development of Bengaluru. 21 projects totaling Rs 1,800 crore have been designated under the 'Brand Bengaluru' plan.

Karnataka Budget 2025:

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presented his 16th budget on Friday. This time a total of ₹ 4.095 lakh crore has been allocated for Karnataka Budget 2025-26.

A provision of ₹ 51,034 crore has been made for five guarantee schemes of the state government , which are part of the promises made by the Congress government.

Key announcements of the budget

  1. The state government has allocated ₹ 82,000 crore for capital investment . Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said this puts Karnataka among the top capital investment states in the country.
  2. Liquor prices will be reviewed and may be increased to bring it at par with neighbouring states.
  3. 4% reservation will be given to the Muslim community in government tenders and contracts.
  4. An amount of ₹ 100 crore has been set aside for the comprehensive development of Jain, Buddhist and Sikh communities , while ₹ 250 crore will be given for the development of the Christian community . A Sannati Development Authority will be set up for the development of Sannati, an ancient Buddhist centre located in Chittapur taluka of Kalaburagi district.
  5. The annual salary of temple priests has been increased from ₹ 60,000 to ₹ 72,000. At the same time, Jain monks, chief granthis of Sikh gurudwaras and Pesh Imams of mosques will be given an honorarium of ₹ 6,000 per month. Assistant granthis and muezzins will get ₹ 5,000 per month.
  6. A new building will be constructed at Haj Bhavan in Bengaluru to facilitate Haj pilgrims and their families.
  7. The state government plans to launch its own OTT platform to promote the Kannada language.

Big budget for women and children

  • ₹ 94,084 crore allocated for women-related programmes .
  • ₹ 62,033 crore has been allocated for schemes related to children . The amount of National Foreign Scholarship given to minority students has been increased from ₹ 20 lakh to ₹ 30 lakh.

Schemes for Minorities

  • Minority youth will be encouraged to start new startups under Karnataka Minority Development Corporation.
  • A provision of ₹ 150 crore has been made for the repair of Waqf properties, construction of infrastructure and protection of Muslim cemeteries .

The maximum ticket price in multiplexes will be ₹ 200

  • Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that now the maximum price of tickets for any show in all multiplexes and theatres in Karnataka will be ₹ 200.

Relief for journalists

  • The monthly pension of journalists facing financial crisis in the state has been increased from ₹ 12,000 to ₹ 15,000. At the same time, the family pension has been increased from ₹ 6,000 to ₹ 7,500.

What is special about Bangalore?

  • The budget allocation for Bengaluru has been increased to ₹ 7,000 crore. The 'Brand Bengaluru' program has allocated ₹1,800 crore for 21 planned projects.
  • Under the Brand Bengaluru scheme, a comprehensive health program will be launched in the next three years, which will cost ₹ 413 crore. Its aim is to make Bengaluru a city with world-class healthcare facilities.
  • To ease traffic congestion in the city, a 40.5-km long double-decker flyover will be constructed at a cost of ₹ 8,916 crore.
  • Funds have also been released for Phase 3 of Namma Metro, which will expand Bengaluru's metro network to 98.60 km and improve connectivity up to Devanahalli.
  • Using the canal buffer zone, 300 km of additional roads and 120 km of flyovers will be built at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore. Also, 460 km of main and sub-main roads will be developed at a cost of ₹ 660 crore.
  • ₹ 3,000 crore has been allocated to improve the city's drainage and sewage treatment infrastructure .
  • An amount of ₹ 555 crore has been given for the fifth phase of the Cauvery Water Supply Project , which will ensure drinking water supply to 110 villages.
  • A new 200-bed hospital will be built in Bengaluru North at a cost of ₹ 150 crore.
  • A satellite market will be set up on the outskirts of Bengaluru in view of the increasing traffic in the city.
  • Bengaluru City University will be renamed Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University.
