The Janata Dal (United), led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has taken a crucial step in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections by releasing its first list of 57 candidates. This announcement comes after days of deliberation within the party and among its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), reflecting the strategic calculations of the leadership ahead of the state polls.

The release of this initial list has sparked political buzz across Bihar, as voters and analysts closely examine the candidates and constituencies chosen by JD(U). Key figures such as Anant Singh from Mokama and candidates for constituencies previously claimed by Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party indicate that the party is making calculated moves to strengthen its presence in the NDA alliance and expand its influence in competitive areas.

As the first step in the electoral process, the announcement sets the stage for a highly competitive race in the state. While the list reveals JD(U)’s initial strategies, further candidates are expected to be unveiled in the coming days, with the party looking to balance representation across communities and constituencies.

Seat Allocation and NDA Strategy

The release of JD(U)’s first list is aligned with the NDA’s overall seat-sharing strategy. BJP and JD(U) are each contesting 101 seats, while the Lok Janshakti Party will contest 29 seats. Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) will contest six seats each, ensuring balanced representation among allies.

This strategy also ensures representation across communities. Among NDA candidates, reserved seats are included along with allocations for EBC, OBC, and Muslim communities, highlighting JD(U)’s attempt to maintain inclusivity and electoral strength.

Election Timeline

The 243-seat Bihar Assembly election will be held in two phases: November 6 and November 11, with counting scheduled for November 14. JD(U) is expected to release a second list of candidates shortly, completing its electoral lineup for the polls.

Conclusion

The JD(U)’s first list of 57 candidates under Nitish Kumar marks a key step in Bihar’s political preparations. By combining experienced leaders and strategically selected candidates, the party aims to consolidate support and strengthen its position ahead of the assembly elections.
