IT raid at Shilpa Shetty house: Connection to the Bastian case: Income Tax Department officials raided the Mumbai residence of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra today. The raid was conducted in connection with a case related to her high-end restaurant brand, Bastian. Shilpa Shetty is a co-owner of the restaurant, which was launched in 2014.
Searches also conducted in Bengaluru:
Income tax officials said that search operations were also conducted at several locations in Bengaluru in connection with this case. This action was taken as part of the investigation into documents and financial transactions related to Bastian.
This action comes just one day after Bengaluru police registered a case against the Bastian Garden City outlet. Police allege that the restaurant was operating beyond the legally permitted hours.
Allegations of a ₹60 crore fraud are also pending:
Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra have been accused by a businessman of a ₹60 crore investment fraud. The couple is currently fighting a legal battle in this case. These allegations are also under investigation.
Shilpa Shetty's Bastian Hotel's Financial Records Under Scrutiny:
This latest development comes a day after Bengaluru police registered cases against two pubs, including Bastian Garden City, co-owned by Shilpa Shetty, for allegedly operating beyond permitted hours. Bastian pub was established by businessman Ranjit Bindra's Bastian Hospitality, in which Shetty acquired a 50% stake in 2019. Department officials examined documents and scrutinized records related to financial transactions. However, Shilpa Shetty has dismissed the allegations as baseless. The action follows the circulation of CCTV footage of an incident that occurred at the pub around 1:30 AM on December 11, showing a heated argument between two groups of customers. No serious physical violence was reported.
