PM Modi tweeted, "Had a very good and productive conversation with President Trump. We reviewed the progress in our bilateral relations and discussed regional and international developments. India and the US will continue to work together for global peace, stability, and prosperity."
Officials said the two leaders exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in the areas of trade, critical technologies, energy, defense, and security. They added that the two leaders agreed to work together to address shared challenges and advance common interests.
India-US Trade Deal at a Promising Stage
According to US Representative Jamison Greer, the trade deal between India and the United States is at a promising stage. India has offered the US its best offer yet.
Which crops will come to India?
Greer said that India has agreed to open its market to American products such as sorghum and soybeans. A team from the USTR (United States Trade Representative) is currently in India and working on reducing barriers in the agricultural sector.
US wants to sell ethanol to India-
Greer added that India could also purchase ethanol made from US corn and soybeans. Several other countries have also opened their markets to American ethanol.
