Google has appointed Indian-origin Prabhakar Raghavan as the company's Chief Technologist. Earlier, he was the Senior Vice President of Google Search Assistant, Jio Ads Commerce and Payment Products in the company. He has been handling big responsibilities in Google for the last 12 years. Prabhakar, who became the Chief Technologist in Google, has done B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT Madras.

There is news of a big change at the leadership level in Google. The search engine company has appointed Indian-origin Prabhakar Raghavan as the new Chief Technologist. Before Raghavan, this responsibility was being handled by Nick Fox. Earlier, Prabhakar Raghavan was the Senior Vice President of Google Search, Assistant, Jio, Ads, Commerce and Payment Products.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai has written a blog post and given information about the new responsibility given to Prabhakar Raghavan. He told that Raghavan has been leading the team at Google for the last 12 years. Now he will take over the post of Chief Technologist of the company. According to a CNBC report, Raghavan will report directly to Sundar Pichai.
This report states that the company has taken this step at a time when the giant tech company is revising the team for its growth. The company is also facing increasing competition. Along with this, the company is facing lawsuits globally for monopoly in the business related to Google search and advertising.
Who is Prabhakar Raghavan?
Prabhakar Raghavan, who became the Chief Technologist at Google, has done BTech in Computer Science from IIT Madras. Along with this, he has also done PhD in Electrical Engineering from UC Berkeley. Along with this, he has also been a consulting professor at Stanford University. Along with this, he has also been the Editor in Chief of ACM Journal.
Before joining Google, Prabhakar Raghavan founded Yahoo Labs and was leading that team. Here his responsibility was to design the ad market place along with search and ad ranking. Along with being the CTO of Verity, he has worked in many important positions in IBM in his 14-year career.
Raghavan has been working on algorithms for the last 20 years. Along with this, he has published more than 100 papers on web search and database. Earlier, he has been the Vice President of Google Apps, Google Cloud. Under his leadership, Google's app business has grown from consumer apps to business solutions. He has played a major role in expanding Google's cloud business. Along with this, he added machine intelligence feature to G Suite.
