In the world of Indian digital content creators, drama is never far behind. This time, popular YouTuber Abhishek Malhan, widely known as Fukra Insaan, has found himself in the eye of a storm. Fashion content creator and The Traitors contestant Sufi Motiwala has accused Abhishek of making homophobic remarks, setting social media ablaze. Here's a comprehensive look at the controversy that’s drawing significant attention online.

Earlier this month, Abhishek's brother Nischay Malhan, better known as Triggered Insaan, tied the knot with long-time partner Ruchika Rathore in a cozy ceremony amidst the scenic hills of Chail. Their outfits and moments from the wedding soon surfaced on social media. However, it wasn’t all praise.

Sufi Motiwala shared his take on their fashion choices through an Instagram reel. He labelled Ruchika’s bridal look as 'muggy' and poked fun at Nischay’s choice to pair sunglasses with his traditional sherwani. Though he ultimately rated their outfits an 8/10, he remarked, 'It looks like you googled and chose the first options that showed on wedding outfits.'

Never one to stay silent when it comes to family, Abhishek Malhan clapped back. In a YouTube video that quickly caught traction, he roasted Sufi’s critique with a sarcastic and controversial tone. 'Ye bhai hai ya behen hain? Yeh kaun ladka hain? Ladki hain? Praani hain?' Abhishek mocked, sparking a backlash across platforms for allegedly perpetuating gender stereotypes and offensive undertones.

Following the roast, Sufi Motiwala responded through his Instagram stories, directly accusing Abhishek of being homophobic. He shared how the incident had triggered a wave of hate toward him, writing: 'The blatant homophobia being incited upon me is just unacceptable. When you talk like this, you encourage people to be homophobic on social media. Grow up. Be better. Stand for better things.'

Sufi’s emotional appeal pointed out the dark side of influencer culture, where fan bases can quickly turn toxic and hateful. He revealed being flooded with derogatory messages labeling him with slurs like 'chakka' and 'gay,' igniting a much larger conversation about acceptance and sensitivity in online communities.

Ironically, the controversy started over what was meant to be a joyful celebration. Nischay Malhan and Ruchika Rathore got married on June 9 in an intimate event at ITC Hotels, Tavleen, Chail, Himachal Pradesh. The couple shared stunning wedding photos on Instagram with the caption 'Forever,' exuding happiness and grace.

Ruchika looked resplendent in a crimson lehenga adorned with golden embroidery and paired with traditional kundan jewellery. Nischay chose an ivory sherwani with delicate pearl embellishments and a regal turban. The visuals radiated elegance and sparked admiration, alongside, unexpectedly, a digital feud.

The internet is split. While many back Sufi for highlighting the problematic tone of Abhishek’s remarks, others defend Abhishek, arguing that his response was emotional and defensive rather than intentionally offensive. Nevertheless, the controversy has stirred debate on how influencers use their platform and the line between humour and harm.

While Abhishek Malhan has not issued a formal apology or clarification as of now, the impact of his comments continues to unfold. Meanwhile, Sufi Motiwala’s response has earned him both support and criticism, as the dialogue about homophobia in Indian content spaces gains momentum.

Whether this feud fizzles out or becomes a turning point for how Indian influencers address inclusivity, one thing is clear: the internet remembers. For creators like Abhishek and Sufi, their words echo far beyond the screen, and it's high time all influencers chose them more wisely.
