Fourth generation Mini Cooper petrol edition revealed

BMW's brand MINI has revealed the petrol edition of the fourth generation Cooper 3-door hatchback car. This car is the last inter combustion engine (ICE) edition of MINI. After this the company will make only electric vehicles. The look of the car is inspired by the original version of the company launched in 1959. The company will launch this car in two drive variants, Mini Cooper-S and Mini Cooper-C.

The new model of the car is set to be launched in 3-door, 5-door, soft top convertible and John Cooper Work versions. MINI sells the Gen-3 Cooper hatchback in India in petrol and electric powertrain options. BMW launched this car brand 24 years ago i.e. in 2000.

Mini Cooper Petrol Powertrain: Highlights

The Mini Cooper Gen-4 hatchback looks exactly like the Cooper EV. But its platform is quite different from EV Cooper. The petrol variant of the Mini is a heavily updated model of the older model. It has two turbo-petrol engines similar to Gen-3.

But in terms of power, it will get more power output than Gen-3. The 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine in the Cooper C generates maximum power of 156hp. The car takes 7.7 seconds to accelerate from 0-100kph.

Cooper-S has 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine

Whereas, Cooper-S has a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine which generates power of 204hp. It takes 6.6 seconds to reach 0kmph from 100kmph. The company has provided automatic gearbox in both the variants of the car.

Mini Cooper Patrol: Interior

The new 3-door petrol has a minimalistic dashboard. It has an OLED infotainment display in its centre. The company claims that this is the first OLED touch screen in a production car.

The top of the OLED display displays road speed and fuel economy. Whereas the menubar is displayed at the bottom section of the screen. The climate function is also visible in the menu bar. The company has given its own dedicated buttons for the front and rear defoggers of the car.

The gear selector has been shifted from the center console to a panel below the screen. Apart from this, the hand-brake, turn-key starter, driving mode selector and audio control dial have also been shifted to a panel below the screen.
