Former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satya Pal Malik dies at the age of 79: Former Governor Satya Pal Malik has passed away. He was ill for a long time. He breathed his last today i.e. on 5th August at RML Hospital. He was 79 years old. Earlier he was a strong leader of BJP. Later he became its critic. Satya Pal Malik was admitted to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi since May 2025, where his condition remained critical. There is a wave of mourning in the country due to his death.

It was told that Satya Pal Malik was kept in ICU due to severe urinary tract infection and complications of kidney failure. Today afternoon the hospital informed about the death of Satya Pal Malik. It is important to mention here that a day earlier, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren also died in Delhi. Shibu Soren breathed his last on Monday at Sir Gangaram Hospital in Delhi. Today he merged with the five elements.

  • Satya Pal Malik, a resident of Hisavada village in Baghpat, entered student politics in 1965 while studying at Meerut College. In 1966-67, Malik was elected the first student union president of Meerut College. Former Prime Minister Late Chaudhary Charan Singh formed the Bharatiya Kranti Dal. In the 1974 assembly elections, he contested from Baghpat seat on BKD ticket and reached the assembly.
  • After the formation of Lok Dal in 1975, he was appointed All India General Secretary. In 1980, he was sent to the Rajya Sabha as a representative of Lok Dal. Meanwhile, his rift with the leaders of Lok Dal increased, after which Malik joined the Congress in 1984.
  • In 1986, he was sent to the Rajya Sabha as a representative of Congress and was appointed General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. In 1987, saddened by the Bofors scandal, he resigned from Rajya Sabha membership and joined Jan Morcha. He joined Janata Dal in 1988 and was the spokesperson and secretary of Janata Dal till 1991. In 1989, he was elected MP from Aligarh on Janata Dal ticket.
  • Satya Pal Malik joined BJP in 2004 and contested from Baghpat Lok Sabha, but lost. After this, he was made the vice-president of UP BJP in 2005-06. In 2009, he was made the All India in-charge of BJP Kisan Morcha.
  • He was the vice-president of BJP in 2014 and was the chairman of agriculture related issues in the sub-committee of election manifesto. He played an active role in the assembly elections of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. He was made the Governor of Bihar on 4 October 2017. In 2018, he was made the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
